See Your World Through Fresh Eyes; Notice The Quiet Beauty In Ordinary Everyday Life

Mindful Photography for Wellbeing

Click! Click! Click! (or Tap! Tap! Tap!) has your smartphone become a constant companion in your bag or pockets? Maybe you have noticed that although you take plenty of photos, you also feel less present to World around you?

Photography as Active Meditation

Mindful photography is an “active meditation”…more like the days of film photography where every frame counted. The photographer would visualise the final image before pressing the shutter because the amount of shots from a roll of film was limited to a max of 36!

A Different Way of Approaching Photography

These sessions are intentionally spacious and reflective

Rather than aiming to produce “perfect” images for social media or fine art prints, we slow the process down. The emphasis is not on post-production, AI editing software, or filters, but on meeting what is already here; just as it appears in the moment of seeing.

Instead, we focus on:

  • Specific tools and gentle physical movements to help centre yourself and bring head, heart, and eye into alignment before pressing the shutter.
  • Learning to notice the mind’s ongoing commentary around the image …preferences, likes and dislikes, and the impulse to adjust what is seen to fit an idea of how it should look.
  • Experiencing how different photographic “invitations” feel in the body and mind, such as the contrast between playful, imaginative photography and photographing Reality as it is.
  • Appreciating that there is no competition or judgement. The camera or phone becomes a tool to open awareness into your own personal way of seeing.

Who Is This For?

Mindful Photography workshops are experiential and centred on holistic wellbeing rather than advanced photography or editing skills. Phones or digital cameras can be used.

Anyone with an openness to see life with more clarity, and an attitude of curiosity, is welcome. Classes will be small, friendly, and last approximately 2.5 hours.

A Zoom call will be included both before we meet and afterwards, offering space to share reflections, feedback, and selected images together.
